Global steel production rose in March by 2.7 percent from a year earlier. That made the World Steel Association said Tuesday.

Total production increased in the 65 countries that are connected to 141 million tons. Of the organization In China, the increase was 2.2 percent, while Germany in March, 6.1 percent more steel produced and France by more than 4 percent saw rising production.

Over the entire first quarter of 2014 increased steel production in the European Union by 6.7 percent to 43.8 million tonnes, while production in Asia with a more modest 2.6 percent to 274 million tonnes. The U.S. produced nearly 30 million tons of steel, less than one percent more than in the first three months of 2013.
